Day 9 Trekking - dinky boats

6.30am wake up call for the girls, to get packed, breakfasted and ready for the trek!!

The group:

and our rucksacks - clad in black bags:

The first stage was rafting in inflatable boats, which Pok called "dinky boats" we were too polite to correct him and by the end of the day we were all calling them dinky boats too!

We drifted down river, with elegance and serenity! Well not quite, we squealed, sang, splashed each other and goaded the boat men to go faster so that we could over take each other. Shouts of lei-lei (faster) to our own boatmen, and cha cha (slower) to the others. (please correct me if I have those wrong)

The scenery was magnificent and any wildlife that may have been around had long since escaped our dreadful singing! We passed a waterfall called something poetic, again let me know if you remember the name!
[Thanks to Hayley - Thee Lor Jor]

We then stopped off at some hot springs. Basically a hot stream from somewhere in the earth that they hand constructed a dam to make a warm paddling pool. It was heaven, I think we all secretly hoped for full spa facilities!

Then further downstream for our lunch stop, chicken and noodles, yum. Miss Stephens managed our first slip/stumble/concussion type injury, whilst climbing out of the dinky boat she slipped and stepped on the paddle which like a garden rake rose up and hit her in the face, an egg shaped lump rapidly formed, she was very brave but did look like a bit of a mutant for a few days! Then for the more adventurous or desperate a stumble into the jungle for a toilet stop! Never try to climb a muddy bank wearing a poncho!

Back into the boats to get to the start of the trek.
