Sports Awards

Got the final insurance details today, and arranged some currency. That's the last of the "things to do" list, hurrah! Oh other than the risk assesment which is tweaked on a daily basis!!
Katherine also brought in her first aid kit, one of the little red ones from Millets, perfect compact and full of goodies, but we'll add a few more wipes and plasters. We now have a first aid kit each, we can practise sling tying and splinting in the evenings!

Tonight was the school's sports award evening. It was fab, describing all the girls from all the teams and their successes, we've really done quite well this season. Dame Tanni Grey Tompson came to award the prizes and gave a witty and inspirational speech about following your dreams, but she also warned the girls that in the end we all turn into our mothers, how very true! The two PE staff are coming on the trip so now they can relax and look forward to Thailand. A fair few of the long lost year 11s were there too, so it was a chance for us all to get together and get excited. Hazel has been doing a daily count down for the last 6 months and took great joy in telling us that it's now only 7 days! She also one the senior sports personality of the year award so she was buzzing anyway.

  1. woo hoo! Yes sports awards evening was lovely and am very pleased it is all over. Only sports day to plan now for Tuesday then I can put my feet up and think of Thailand! Have discovered recently that 6 pairs of trousers will not be sufficient for 21 days of travel!! Why I ever thought it would be, I dont know. I guess that means this weekend will be taken up with more shopping and bribing mum to hem everything I buy (being a bit vertically challenged).

Am aiming to squeeze everything I own into one bag for this trip so I may have to invite a small team of helpers to come and sit on it so that I can zip it up! I am a bit frightened that should customs need to inspect my baggage it may burst out and cause serious injury!! Has my baggage been risk assessed Pete!!

Promise I will ask my mum for my consent form today Mrs K!

  2. Your baggage is covered in the "other eventualities" section 18.1.6 of the risk assessment.
Actions would involve reprimand, verbal warning and gaffa tape (to the user and the receptacle).
